Initial Teacher Education

Hands-on workshops for initial teacher trainees in Design and Technology, full of innovative activities and projects. Strategies and resources link to the new National Curriculum guidelines, Comprehensive resources included for immediate classroom use.

Suitable for primary and secondary trainees.

For product design, graphics, food, textiles and systems.

PRODUCT EVALUATION
An intensive course in the use of product evaluation in the classroom, enabling trainees to teach the D&T curriculum through a handling collection. The day includes aspects of design processes, materials and manufacturing, classroom management and suggestions for assembling handling collections.

 

DESIGNING SKILLS
A day of exciting hands-on designing and prototyping using methods developed by cutting-edge designers and manufacturers. The course explores ways of making design inspirational and relevant, whilst still satisfying the requirements of the National Curriculum and exam assessment criteria.


 

POLYPROPYLENE
An opportunity to explore ways of using this versatile contemporary material in the classroom. A creative day with lots of projects, strategies and activities to try out in school.

 

LIGHTING
Using a basic domestic product as a vehicle for a day focusing on user need and creative ideas generation, the course explores group work and interactive activities that meet National Curriculum and exam assessment criteria. May be combined with Polypropylene.

PRIMARY D&T
Easy ways to teach product evaluation, materials, mechanisms, levers and much more, using Spice handling collections, with strategies and activities to use in school. Excellent for non-specialists.
